Indian Summer
Some information from our Head of Information!
Sweet is doing a hell of a good job here. So much so that I couldn't tell her what I was going to tell her.
Just between you and me, when I named her Head of Information, all the info I was looking for was 'where do we keep the beer'!
Information, we all need it.....and that's my job....so I will do my job today
All week in my office I kept hearing from the marketers "we are having an Indian Summer." I have heard this saying most of my life....so I did a little research.....
Thanks to the "Old Farmer's Almanac". I love this magazine....here is the definition of.....
Indian Summer
A period of warm weather following a cold spell or a hard frost, Indian summer can occur between St. Martin’s Day (November 11) and November 20. Although there are differing dates for its occurrence, for more than 200 years the Almanac has adhered to the saying “If All Saints’ brings out winter, St. Martin’s brings out Indian summer.” As for the origin of the term, some say it comes from the early Native Americans, who believed that the condition was caused by a warm wind sent from the court of their southwestern god, Cautantowwit.
Indian Summer is a period of a week to ten days marked by especially fair weather and mild days after the first frost. During Indian Summer, the sun shines dimly, the sky is a rich blue and it is hazy near the horizon. The air is still and the moon is a soft yellow or orange. This is caused by a large mass of warm tropical air.
So where am I going with this information....California is NOT having a Indian Summer...
Knowledge is power!
