Or they could come here!
Los Angeles enjoys fake snow
LOS ANGELES (UPI) -- Just as much of the U.S. Midwest and Northeast was recovering from snowstorms, Los Angeles citizens were enjoying their own manmade version. In an effort to bring snow to Southern California communities, area governments have begun paying thousands of dollars to have giant blocks of ice transformed by chipping machines into snow, the Los Angeles Times reported. The practice is seen as a bit unusual by citizens of northern cities such as Milwaukee and Buffalo, N.Y., who find themselves with an abundance of snow after last week's storms. "Rather than go to some ersatz celebration, they might want to come here and see the real thing," Buffalo city official Peter Cutler said. Children in Southern California remain thankful for the new practice, having seen snow only in movies. "I thought it was going to be a lot softer," 7-year-old Los Angeles County citizen Daniel Hernandez told the Times. "I wish I had got a snow house, and that the city was covered with snow. And that I could skate to school."
