The Saddam Video
I finally watched the videos of Saddam being hanged. I thought I might get some satifaction from the sight of the 'Butcher of Baghdad' getting what he deserved.
There was no satisfaction. I felt disgusted. I felt anger. Anger at the ones who were now no better than Saddam. The man deserved punishment. But who do we think we are, deciding who lives and who dies?
Yes, he deserved it. But who's place was it to mete out that punishment?
The Bible does say, "Thou shalt not kill".
And I understand that this was the punishment handed down by a court of law.
This was justice.
But it doesn't look like justice.

Keep in mind, Saddam was considered a friend
to the US, during the Iran - Iraq war in the late 70's and
80's. Also, Bin Laden was a friend of the US during
the Russian invasion of Afganistan. With friends like these, who...... oh you know the rest.
It could be that we have fickle friends.
Or it could be that our government eventually pisses everyone off.
