Heat At Last! Heat At Last!

Good God almighty, heat at last!

Finally, the heat is back on in my house. What a nightmare that was.

I had some problems with the heat here last week. My house is rather large. And it's out in the country, away from civilization. And away from utilities. Consequently, we heat with oil. We have a boiler that runs on this oil. A large boiler, which feeds from a large, underground tank. Problems that began a week ago, turned out to originate from a broken oil line buried in the back yard. I diagnosed this problem myself, correctly I might add, and solved it by buying a new tank and lines. It was an easy problem to spot, as there was mud coming through the oil line into the house.

Come last friday, a new tank was installed, lines were run, and all that was left was to install the new pump. A fella that works for me offered to install the pump for me. Said he knew all about these things, is what he said. And he installed it incorrectly. It wound up screwing up a bunch of other stuff. Stuff that wasn't available til Monday morning. And this was on Friday night.

But I've repaired all the damage myself, with no help needed or wanted. And we are finally warm.

If you want something done right...

This reminds me of something I am very familiar
with. Murphy's Law. Nothing at our house is EVER simple.

The past several winters have been fairly mild.
You're heating system worked just fine.

This winter started out unusually warm.
When we hit the coldest stretch of weather we've had in years, THAT'S the exact moment that the problems begin.
Glad to hear that all is good now.

I spoke too soon.

I thought everything was fixed. When we went without heat, we used space heaters to keep the house from freezing. We thought we had it covered. As you probably know, our garage is heated. We forgot. That's where the radiator froze and burst. And again, we had no heat!
