Coffee

I like coffee. I have to have my cup or two every morning. But you know how I am. Regular coffee just doesn’t do it for me. After all, I brew my own beer. I like good coffee and as it turns out, the best coffee is also the cheapest.

“Oh come on“, you’re saying. “I’m calling you on this one, Tramp”

Fine by me. Allow me to explain. The best coffee is the freshest coffee. And how do you get that? You roast your own. I do. Coffee roasted five minutes ago is the best coffee you will ever taste. And by roasting your own, you pay about three bucks a pound for the premium types like Columbian, Guatemalan and Costa Rican. Hi test or decaf, your choice. And roasting them at home is easy. Cost to roast is as little (free) to as much (lots) as you want. A frying pan on the stove will roast coffee beans. Takes about 5 minutes. Hot air machines work better though. That’s what I use because it also blows the chaff (the shell) off of the beans. A machine like mine goes about 80 bucks and works great. But you can do it any way you like. Even over a barbeque.

I bought a system for my wife a few years ago and she loves it. It’s almost like a hobby. A good machine makes it easy. And you don’t want a big one because you only want to roast what you are going to use right away. Raw coffee beans are called green beans. The place I use is here. To get a roaster, I went here. You can get as much equipment as you want or as little as necessary. It’s not going to change the taste of the coffee, just how you do it. Look into it for some of the best and cheapest coffee you’ve ever drank.

I can attest to the fact that you will have the best cup of coffee at Lady and the Tramps house. I still talk about it, and I had that cup almost a year ago. ( I had to wait in the driveway for them to come home, they made it up to me with coffee = I forgave them in a hurry!)

I got this home roast kit thinking it would give my Lady something of her own to do while I make my beer. It came from the home brew store I use. It was one of the best ideas I have ever had. She loves it. And so, it seems, does everyone else. I highly reccomend it.

Why not? They are both 'brew'.
