A Hunting We Will Go
A friend of mine, Joe, asked me to go mushroom hunting with him. Ok said I, but I wanted to do some research first. No one likes an inexperienced hunter around. So while researching the subject on the internet I was surprised by what I found out. Apparently mushrooms can be deadly. Well, no mushroom is going to do me in. I was ready to go and heavily armed. You never know when a mushroom might attack. And they can be deadly. So I was not taking any chances.
We got up early and hit the woods. Joe eyed me warily as I was equipped to kill anything that came our way. We had been hunting for less than half an hour when Joe spotted a big one. I drew up and fired with my 12 gauge shotgun. Nailed it square. It never had a chance. Joe seemed upset. Maybe I should have given him the first shot at it. He was mumbling all kind of things as he said our trip was over. I told him about how deadly they can be and that they might be unpredictable out here in the wild. You know, I've never seen one in a zoo. I mentioned to him how I may have saved his life. The look he gave me told me someone did not do their research.
Joe says I am not going mushroom hunting with him ever again. I think I made him look bad. I am fast with a gun and he never had a chance. Hell, he never even brought a gun.
