I Can Fix That

This comes from Jill.

When the man at the auto repair shop told me that it would cost $1400 to fix my car's air conditioning, I just laughed at him and said, "Heck", I can fix it myself for a whole lot less than that!"

I had a 1980 Buick Regal that I drove as a work car for 5 years. From 1991-1996. It developed a problem that when you made left hand turns, the starter would engage for a split second and grind on the fly wheel.
I drove the car to work and home for 2 weeks making nothing but right hand turns. An ignition wire had
its insulation rubbed off in the steering column from years of moving the tilt wheel up and down. Also,
I had to use a small flat tip screw driver to run the drivers side power window up and down because the button had broke off. And last but not least, during the winter months, everytime you came to a stop, you had to slip the car into neutral and tap the gas a little to keep it from stalling. Although, I got a chuckle from this photo,
I've certainly drove a gem or 2 in my lifetime.

Long, long time ago, I had a Dodge Coronet 440 that had no brakes. I'd drive it to Salem because it was all I had.

You know that cement wall in the lot across from the old Ricky's?

Yeah, that's how I stopped it!

That's when a bumper was a bumper.
Not the stamped tin foil chunk covered with
a plastic color scheme.
I miss those days.

I hit that wall hundreds of times with no damage to the car whatsoever. You can still see the marks in the cement wall today!

A lady in a new GMFordsler POS (that's Piece Of Shit, and no, I can't tell the makes apart anymore) ran into the back of my truck lightly a while back. I hardly felt it, wasn't even sure I was hit. She bumped my hitch. No damage to my truck, however she did a couple thousand bucks worth to her car.

A couple thousand!
And I wasn't even sure I was touched!

When I was young, I was proud of the fact that I could tell the make and model of any car at a glance. Today, when I pick up a rental car, I can drive it for days and not know what make it is. A guy in a gas station asked me one time what the make of the car I had was. After some thought, I figured it out by looking at the keys. The car itself offered no clue!
