Driving Art Modell out of Cleveland was a terrible
thing for Browns fans. I didn't like the way things were
going at the end of Arts reign in Cleveland either, at the time. But to think that an owner of a football team made decisions just to torture the fans was insane. Art Modell
and the Cleveland Browns did more over the years to bring revenue into the city than the Indians and Cavaliers
combined. For the city to leave Art out in the cold
after helping the Indians and Cavs build new facilities
was just plain disrespectful. Hiring Bill Belecheck (sp?),
what has that guy ever done...Oh never mind. I didn't
like him at the time, but not a bad call on Arts part.
I thought Art Modell was an idiot, just like everybody else did back then. But once they were gone, I realized
maybe it was US, the fans, who were being idiots.
Art Modell is a good person and has always been so.
What an ugly way to end an era.
I've covered this before and most Browns fans don't care. But it is true. See the post here.
