Ebay Came Calling

I received a letter from Ebay CEO Meg Whitman asking for my assistance. I don't know if my readers know how I feel about Ebay, but I guess you are about to find out.

For reference, Ebay and Paypal offer assurances of safety and assistance in all transactions on their site. If you ever have trouble on Ebay, or with Paypal, you will quickly find out they mean none of it.

Here is my response to Meg.

Meg Whitman,
CEO, Ebay

Thank you for contacting me. I appreciate that Ebay would like my assistance. However, help is a two way street.

I have been ripped off on your site, Ebay, numerous times. Ebay and Paypal were always telling me how safe and secure my transactions were. These were lies. Ebay and Paypal did absolutely nothing to help me each time an Ebay user lied to me or stole my money.

Your assurances and promises never materialized. I believe they are simply a ploy to get users to participate on your site. When something goes wrong, the story changes and this help turns out to be non-existent. You switch from telling people how well protected they are to a 'Buyer Beware' attitude. I would be fine with this if it was stated policy before I gave you my hard earned money. But to switch stories during a transaction amounts to dishonest behavior in my opinion. Consequently, I cannot support Ebay or Paypal in any way knowing that this is acceptable policy as far as you are concerned.

I own my own business. We are a manufacturer of construction equipment which we distribute on a global level. I could never bring myself to treat my customers in this manner. I find that type of behavior dishonest and morally reprehensible. But to each his own.

Tell the truth at the start and stand by it. Do not change your story when trouble starts. Until you are prepared to do this, look for no support from me.

Thank you,
Tramp

I love it when a company rips people off left and right and then goes looking for help.

If Ebay wants an ad on here, then I get to write the copy.

And believe me, when they read my copy, they won't want to be on here anymore!
