A Quick Story

Leaving the fireworks display tonight, I spotted a little girl, about eight years old, selling pop by the can. She had a cooler full of cold pop and a desk. Her business was open.

"Fifty cents a can", she announced to all who passed. And I passed her once. Then I went back. She wasn't doing very good in her business venture. And having just had two beers myself, I really didn't want a can of pop.

I had two dollars in my hand as I walked up to her.
I told her, "I'd like four cans please."
And I handed her my two dollars.
As she reached for the cooler I added, "Oh, and I'd like you to drink them for me. Thank you."

And I walked away, thinking to myself that I had robbed that little girl.

That smile was worth more than two dollars.
